MY FAVORITE SOUND OF 2018

December 15, 2018

As much as I’d love to stick with my playlist of my favorite songs from 90’s to early 2000’s, it is nice to listen to new sounds sometimes. Besides the sensationally viral songs like In My Feelings and God’s Plan by this year most-streamed artist Drake, Rockstar and Better Now by Post Malone or Ariana Grande’s latest hits Thank u, next, 2018 has welcomed to variety of new sounds than ever before.

I mean, this is the year where latin music and k-pop are slowly taking over. Need a proof? Just go to your favorite music app and you’ll see bunch of latin music and k-pop sneaking inside the chart of most-streamed songs in 2018. It started with the hits of Despacito last year which open the way to many international artists to be more recognized and broaden their market. Surprisingly, most reaction from public was, “I don’t know any words they’re singing, but damn this is a bop!”. Then it makes sense that now you’ll easily spot a lot of music videos from international artist like J Balvin, BTS or Blackpink appear on your favorite music show.

Not to mention some sick albums from movie soundtrack like the famous Bohemian Rhapsody and a comeback from musical film The Greatest Showman with their recent genuinely smart records “Reimagined”, this year has also offered so many great albums at the store. After listening to bunch of new sound this year, I realize that my taste in music is pretty much the same. I guess latin music, k-pop and hip-hop isn’t really my thing, but I do get it when people are so hype about it because their music are great to be honest. Frankly, I enjoy listen to them sometimes, yeah only sometimes. In addition, I also think it’s really cool that now there are more international artists are finally stepping in to the spotlight and fill in this world with different kind of sounds. By the way, here are some of my most favorite songs released this year. From EDM to my all-time favorite genre, alternative rock. So, which song is your favorite sound of 2018?
